Clearlake is the largest natural lake entirely in California, and has the largest surface area of any freshwater lake entirely in California, the tenth largest by capacity. It is said to be approximately 480,000 years old by genealogists, making the lake one of the oldest lakes in North America. The lake lies in the crater of the ancient volcano Mt. konocti. Traveling around the lake you will see continuous mountain ranges, scenic byways, and breathtaking sunsets!
